41 CLUB CASABLANCA 4
Community Work
Club 41Casablanca 4 in association with Round table four Morocco have committed to put together their efforts to bring drinking water to a village in the rural area of Benslimane Morocco.
The Village, Bsassla Jouwala, with 350 inhabitants is located in an isolated area in the province of Benslimane 150 Km east of Casablanca. This area is suffering from shortage of water and infrastructure. Our two associations conducted a technical study in cooperation with the local water Agency and spotted a borehole test near the village which could be transformed into a well to deliver up to 2L/s water.
The project has been estimated at USD 55.000 including borehole transformation into a well, supply of pump, piping, chlorination system, diesel generating set and construction of a 15 M3 concrete water reservoir.
The most difficult part was to find the finance for the project. We were lucky in getting approval to finance the project from Moroccan bank Wafacash and their partner Western Union.
The project is now technically and financially ready but waiting for actual funds transfer.
Following
are picture of rural water issues in Morocco :
Due to lack of drinking water near the village, children are obliged to travel long distances to collect water, thus missing school. The water is not treated for disinfection and thus causes children to be infected by water born diseases.

A typical Water System developed within the National program for drinking water supply in the rural area looks as follows:
Systems are manual, solar or thermal pumping systems including water disinfection and storage.

The impact we are addressing is to fix the rural population in their homeland, improve their health , school the children and provide healthy drinking water to their homes.
